Fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad set to be first US Olympian to compete in hijab
Fri Feb 5, 2016
In reply to: Will Nier #4 Exactly. Because in American we weren't founded by religious people seeking religious freedom for all religious people. /sarcasm You can be American and wear a hijab. You can be American and wear a kippah. You can be American and wear a habit. You can be American and …
After cruel photo of son becomes meme, mom takes on Internet
Fri Feb 5, 2016
In reply to: Verner Hornung #8 For the record, the photos probably weren't stolen. When you use a company's blog space, like blogspot (Google), when you post a photo you give up all rights to the photo, even if you limit who can see your blog. If she used her own hardware and software to post …
Dad upset over TSA's extensive pat-down of 10-year-old daughter over juice pouch
Wed Jan 6, 2016
In reply to: Nicky Wiederien #2 I bet that if you ask the 10 year old whether or not she felt safe having a complete stranger touch nearly every inch of her body she'd say she didn't feel safe. Safety is important, for each individual person - the TSA isn't interested in our individual safety …
Oklahoma teen fights back after being sent home from school for wearing leggings
Tue Dec 29, 2015
I totally agree that girls/women of any age or size should never be ashamed of their opinion or their body. However, you should be ashamed that you knew the rules (when wearing leggings, shirts have to cover crotches) and broke them anyway - whether or not the rule gets fairly applied to everyone. Y …
Forget 'plus-size'! Models have chosen a new word to describe their bodies
Tue Dec 8, 2015
In reply to: Will Nier #1 For the record, a lot women who are the right size to be called a "plus-sized" model (anything from size 6 and up), are not obese or even overweight. I'm the same size as the model mentioned in the story (retail size 8) and have protruding ribs and hip bones.
The 1 tip to know before decorating your Christmas tree this year
Wed Dec 2, 2015
I like when the lights "go in". I think it makes the tree appear as though it is glowing, instead of just looking like lights were put on the ends of each branch.
Couple donates half of income every year to treat world health
Fri Oct 23, 2015
In reply to: nise52 #2 They have one kid and one on the way. No where in the article did it state that they are not saving for emergencies or retirement. They are doing good in the world. Calm down.
'Pretty useless': Consumer frustrations grow over new credit card chip
Fri Oct 16, 2015
5 times longer to buy a sandwich? Are we over reacting much? For me, for transactions that have used the chip instead of swiping, I'm at the register for about 20 seconds longer, maybe not even that much longer. If you were buying a sandwich in 4 seconds before the chip, I'm seriously impressed …
The end of tipping? What Danny Meyer's no-tipping policy really means
Wed Oct 14, 2015
In reply to: thelonz #6 Servers can still be fired or otherwise disciplined for bad service. If you eat at a restaurant that doesn't allow tipping and you get bad service, complain about the service to management (not just a rant online, that doesn't do much good for solving an issue that is …
ModCloth removes 'plus size' section for 'a more inclusive shopping experience'
Wed Oct 7, 2015
So they have just replaced the word "plus" with the word "extended"? That's better? They've just replaced one label with another and soon "extended" will be thought to be offensive just like "plus" was once thought to be the kind way of saying "bigger". It is a website. If customers want to be able …
